InkBridge Books

InkBridge Books is the hybrid publishing imprint of NFB and is open to works of all lengths and most genres, fiction and nonfiction, intended for adults and children.

Through IBB, authors receive a traditional publishing experience while retaining their rights and holding full approval of their finished product.

Acquiring in the Areas Of

At this time, we are open to pretty much all fiction and nonfiction, with the exception of anything related to politics and religion, for all age ranges. As we acquire and form our identity, we’ll be more selective, but at the moment, queries are wide open. Let’s see what you have!

Expectations of the Press

We are looking to add members to the brand-new InkBridge Books team who will actively promote their work but also themselves as creatives. The ideal IBB author will be open to collaborating with other NFB authors/contributors on promotion and events (if applicable). The motto of Nicole Frail Books and its imprints is Community Over Competition, and that will always be in play.

What & How to Submit

  • An agent is not required to submit to InkBridge Books

  • For fiction and nonfiction prose, please send your (1) complete query letter, (2) first 10 pages of your manuscript as a Word doc, and (3) a full 1-2 page synopsis of your whole work as a Word doc. Your manuscript should be complete before sending your query. Please paste your query letter in the body of the email and attach your pages and synopsis.

  • For project-based or practical nonfiction, please send your (1) complete query letter, (2) your proposal, complete with tentative table of contents as a Word doc, and (3) a sample chapter from the work as a Word doc. Your manuscript does not need to be complete before sending your query, but you need to have a good grasp of where it’s going. Please paste your query letter in the body of the email and attach your pages and proposal.

  • Please send to inkbridgebooks@gmail.com and allow for at least 60 days for review before following up/nudging.

  • If you make significant changes to the content of your manuscript, you may request to swap it out, but please do not email with a new manuscript if you found typos or small line errors.

Anticipated FAQs

  • What is the cost of an IBB package?

    • Packages are based on manuscript length and start at $2,000. A buyback (copies purchased by the author) is not required.

  • Do authors receive 100% of royalties?

    • Authors can receive up to 90% of royalties. They are presented with three model splits and can choose between them based on their personal budgets and goals.

  • Are all manuscripts accepted?

    • No. Similar to a traditional press, interested authors need to query IBB and their proposed books need to be marketable, well-written and thought-out, and timely (or timeless). Authors need to demonstrate that they will be active publishing partners.

  • How does a hybrid publisher differ from a vanity publisher?

    • Vanity publishers typically take nearly all projects submitted to them, regardless of whether they are ready for publication. They may also offer minimal to no editing, and oftentimes they simply print the book and leave the author with thousands of copies of their book without much knowledge or guidance on what to do with them. Hybrid publishers should be more selective of the books they take on and actively partner with authors to produce high-quality products that move through the proper editorial and production processes, teaching authors about the publishing industry along the way.

  • Why would I submit to your hybrid imprint instead of your traditional imprints?

    • If you want more control over your end product, hybrid publishing may be more your speed, as each decision is a conversation. Authors have final approval on their full package, from cover to interior design and where the book is sold/promoted and how it’s positioned, while traditionally, the Publisher maintains that approval (even if authors are consulted). After the initial investment, the royalties are also higher. Overall, the hybrid process is very much like the independent publishing process, except you have a partner—someone to help you put your team together and invest in your book alongside you.
